“I received amazing support from my tutor that was invaluable during my time at Open Study College – they provided the help whenever I needed it.”
Rosanne, Bromley
Rosanne is a self-employed personal trainer and singing teacher and has only recently embarked on this new career path.
Rosanne explains: “I was an opera singer up until two years ago when I decided to stop performing and find something more stable to do alongside this passion. So now I teach singing and I’m also a personal trainer! I’ve even participated in a few bodybuilding competitions over the last couple of years.”
To enhance her new vocation, Rosanne has completed a weight management course with Open Study College. She explained: “I decided to pursue this course to gain greater insight in this industry and use this new knowledge to further help my clients achieve their goals.
“Embarking on the distance learning route was really important for me as it provided the flexibility around my current work that I needed.
“I received amazing support from my tutor that was invaluable during my time at Open Study College; they provided the help whenever I needed it and the work that was set was really clear. I also liked the study guides that we were provided with, they were a helpful additional resource.”
Rosanne elaborated further about her experience of studying her weight management course via distance learning: “I did find that not having a deadline was the biggest challenge, so I always made sure I gave myself one to keep focused and disciplined!
“For anyone thinking about taking up the distance learning approach, my biggest piece of advice would be to allocate a certain amount of time per week and devote this to your studies, and just like I did, definitely give yourself a deadline to achieve it all by.”
