Do You Make These 5 Job Interview mistakes?
With many other candidates up for the same position as you, it’s important for you to make yourself memorable for all the right reasons. So, if you’ve got an interview lined up here are 5 job interview mistakes you simply can’t afford to make:
Not asking questions
After most interviews, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. The worst thing you can do is say no. So, make the most of it, get prepared and show you’re interested!
No follow up
Don’t just sit back and wait for a reply, follow it up. Send an email or a thank you letter to the interviewer and keep yourself fresh in their minds.
Turning a weakness into a positive
Many interviewers will ask you what your weakness is. Don’t try to turn a weakness into a positive, as they’ve probably heard it all before. You should focus on a skill you wish to improve and explain what you are doing to progress.
Not doing your research
There’s no excuse for not researching the company before the interview. Show that you are keen to work with them, by finding out their mission statement, recent achievements and unique position. Make sure you impress them and stand out.
Forgetting your manners
Your recruiter will be watching your every move, what you say and body language, so don’t forget your manners! Swearing, making jokes and not looking at the interviewer are big no-nos. So now is the time to brush up on your manners.
