A nanny or au pair works closely with one or more families to look after children. Nannies tend to care for children full-time and it’s their responsibility to create daily activities that will benefit a child’s learning and development.

This NCFE CACHE Level 3 Award in Home Based Childcare – Nanny Route qualification prepares learners to work in a home-based childcare setting as a nanny or au pair. The course has been developed in collaboration with PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years).

You’ll learn how to create a safe and healthy childcare environment, support the safeguarding and welfare of children in your care, and manage a home-based childcare setting.

You will be assessed by submitting assignments to your tutor for marking. You will need to complete two tutor-marked assignments. No external examinations are required, so your course can be fully completed from home.

The topics covered in this award make a useful introduction to our NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce award. Although it does not provide a direct progression, it covers relevant subjects within this course and is an ideal starting point.
