When you’re more mature , it can be easy to view studying as something for the under 21 age bracket; but Open Study College is committed to making education accessible to all. When Terry decided that he wanted to become a qualified accountant, distance learning offered him the opportunity to achieve his career goals. We caught up with Terry to find out who he chose to study with us and his plans for the future.
What’s your background in terms of education and career?
I have a BSc (Hons) Statistics degree and am currently working as an Accountant’s Assistant.
What made you want to study your AAT course?
To achieve my qualifications in accounting so that I can move along the career ladder as quickly as possible.
What was your motivation for studying?
I generally really like learning new things such as new languages. But specifically, in regards to accounting, I enjoy learning more about dealing with numbers and solving difficult problems promptly.
Why did you choose distance learning over traditional study methods?
It gives me the flexibility I need to plan my time around studying. As I am working full time, I have very little free time remaining. In today’s world, it’s also the cheapest choice of studying as a mature student.
Why did you choose to study with Open Study College?
They had good credentials and a lot of feedback from former students available on the internet.
What have you enjoyed most about your studies?
The easy, straight-forward style of the study materials.
What do you plan to do with your course after completing your studies?
I plan on searching for a new career opportunity that allows me to achieve my goal of moving up the career ladder in accounting.
Do you plan to study in the future?
Yes. I am determined to continue my studies to the highest level and become a professional accountant and perhaps even start my own accounting firm!
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I would like to thank Open Study College for their support so far. I have addressed several enquiries during my time as a student with your learner services department and, I must say, that they have answered them in a timely, efficient manner.
