How to achieve your goals

January 6, 2016 / Sharnie Carter

Everyone starts a new project filled with enthusiasm, but if you really want to see it through to the end and achieve your goals you need to work at it. So here are a few tips:

Set specific goals

Make the effort to set goals. Do this regularly in order to make adjustments and improve on them.

Write them down

How often have you said you’re going to do something next year and then forgotten all about it?
When you write down your goals it will make it real.  You can’t then convince yourself that you never said it. It should then make you want to achieve them.

Are your goals S.M.A.R.T?

Unless your goals are realistic and measurable then it’s doubtful that you’ll achieve what you want to.  So make them S.M.A.R.T
Your goals need to be:

  • Specific
  • Measurable
  • Achievable
  • Results-focused
  • Time-bound

Can they be broken down into small goals?

Create goals for every month. They can be broken down into weekly and then daily goals. You’ll then know what you need to do every day in order to achieve your main monthly objective.

Don’t give up

Don’t say you can’t complete any goals. Push yourself further so you can. When you have completed your goal you will then feel proud.
Now you know how to achieve your goals, make this year your year!
