If you’re feeling confused about Access to HE Diplomas, we have all the information you need to help you understand the qualification!
What is Access to HE?
Access to HE is a widely recognised qualification that provides a route to university. Regardless of whether you are returning to education after a few years or quite some time, this course offers a route to study at degree level.
As an alternative route to taking A levels to get to university, an Access to HE Diploma is a level 3 qualification.
Studying an Access to HE Diploma is the equivalent of taking three traditional A levels but, instead of studying core subjects, all the modules studied are skills needed for a specific degree. So if you want to go onto university to study healthcare, education, humanities or more, you can find an access course to study that will help you get there.
Who is it for?
The Access to HE Diploma (Health) is designed specifically to equip students with the skills needed for studying at university level.
It provides a good foundation of knowledge and preparation for those who have been out of education for some time.
It’s for anyone over 19 years of age, so no matter your age or background, you can take the first step towards studying an undergraduate degree.
Getting to university…
Access to HE courses are widely recognised by universities spanning the UK. They are the equivalent of three A levels and many universities encourage applications from students taking these courses, as the topics covered are highly relevant and specific to the undergraduate degree.
As it is part of the UCAS system, you can use it to support your application to university.
If you’re looking for a career in healthcare and want to study nursing, midwifery or other healthcare related degree, take a look at our very own Access to HE Diploma (Health).
