What's Next? Other Options Post GCSEs
You’ve received your GCSE results, good or bad, and now you’re planning your future. But who says that future needs to be the path that is pre-set for you?
When we’re at school, we get told to do GCSEs, do A Levels, go to university and be successful; that’s a great route. But it’s not the only route that you can take. After your GCSEs, there are other options that can get you to where you want to be and help you to become just as successful.
The law states that children under 18 must do one of the following:
- stay in full-time education
- start an apprenticeship or traineeship
- spend 20 hours or more a week working or volunteering, while in part-time education or training
So your options are varied depending on what you want to do.
Resits
If you didn’t quite get the grades that you wanted, you can always choose to redo your GCSEs to improve your chances of better grades. Our range of GCSEs are nationally recognised and can be studied from home to allow you to study alongside any other commitments you may have.
A Levels
The natural next step after GCSEs, A Levels are the most common choice for students. Whether you choose to study at a college or sixth form, or study from home with distance learning, you can gain the necessary knowledge and skills you need to progress onto university or future endeavours by studying A Levels.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are a great option for those who do not wish to continue into full-time education. This is suitable for those who know what career they wish to enter, as you can receive hands-on training and experience to kick-start your future.
Study while you work
Distance learning courses are perfect for allowing you to do a mix of activities. Perhaps you could take up some volunteer work to gain experience and meet new people. Or maybe you could get a full-time job to save money for university or any future plans.
