    Within this course, there are 12 modules to study.

    Practical Training

    Once you have completed these modules, you will be required to attend a two-week practical training course.

    This will take place the Foot Health Clinic in the Quayside of Blyth.

    The practical elements of this course will include:

    • The opportunity to shadow a professional podiatrist at a clinic to observe the field work from a first-hand experience.
    • Coveted lectures from professional guest speakers from the biomechanics industry

Other Information

  • Assessment

    Assessment of this course will take place through written assignments at the end of each module. Each assessment will demonstrate your understanding and capability of the content.

    The final assessment will be the completion of the two-week practical training and examination, which will combine your theory knowledge with practice to ensure you understand and can demonstrate the entire course content.

    Study Method

    You will study this course through distance learning, which will enable you to learn when and where you want. You can study from home or at work, it is completely up to you. All your materials will be posted to you for added convenience.

    You will receive tutor support to assist you through your studies, so help is just a click away!

    In addition, you must attend a 2-week practical training course to complete your qualification.

What are the requirements needed to enrol onto this course?

There are no specific skill requirements to enrol onto this course, however a good base of IT skills and English are recommended. Students are required to provide a brief handwritten cover letter and a copy of their CV to outline previous work experience before any course materials can be sent out.

You will also need to apply for a DBS before attending the practical training due to the nature of the work entailed. This needs to be done at least 3 weeks prior to attending your practical. This can be accessed via the government website:

In addition, you will need to complete a First Aid course before finishing your course. If you don’t have alternative arrangements for this, you are able to complete this during your practical course at the academy.

How do I get my work assessed?

You will send your coursework to your personal course tutor for them to mark and return to you.

Each assessment will be marked as passed or returned for edits and improvements.

How do I arrange my practical training?

On completion of the theory modules, your tutor will advise you on how to book your practical training.

The course is located at a Foot Health Clinic in the Quayside of Blyth.

Free parking is provided at this facility, and it is easily accessible by public transport. If accommodation is required, we will be able to provide preferential accommodation rates.

Do I need to bring anything to the practical training?

On arrival, students will be provided with a single tunic to be worn during clinical hours. However, students must bring a white t-shirt, smart black trousers, socks and sensible shoes (preferably laced or with a Velcro strap).

Are there any additional costs?

Students who do not have a valid First Aid certificate will need to obtain a First Aid course either before or during their practical training. For students choosing to complete their First Aid course during their practical training, this will cost an additional £30.00.

Students who do not have a valid DBS, will need to apply before completion of the course. The record check is issued through the government website and will cost £25.00

Is there a time limit for the completion of this course?

You may start at any time and have 12 months to complete your studies. It is truly flexible and is designed to be adaptable around your lifestyle and other commitments.
