    For ICB Bookkeeping Level’s 2, 3 and 4 Certificates:

    • Level 2 Certificate: Three online tests
    • Level 3 Certificate: Three online tests and a centre-based examination
    • Level 4 Certificate - Online test and a centre-based examination

    All online tests can be taken at home or at work, wherever you have access to a secure Internet connection, so assessment is quick and simple. For the centre-based tests, we can help you find an approved ICB examination centre in your area.

    For ICB Diploma in Payroll Management Level 3:

    A series of tutor-marked assignments will help you to monitor your progress on this course. However, if you wish to gain the formal ICB qualification, you will need to sit an exam from home. You can take this examination whenever you feel most prepared. Students will be taking the 2015/2016 legislation examination, which must be taken by September 2017.

    Course Duration

    Students may register at any time and have 18 months to complete their studies. This is more than enough time, so that you can work at your own pace. Which means it is designed to fit easily around your lifestyle. You will receive 12 months tutor support. Whilst studying your course you will also be asked to install the Sage software (your materials will tell you when to do this). From the point when you have installed the software you will have 6 months to complete the computerised section. 

    For ICB Diploma in Payroll Management Level 3 students have a full year to complete their studies. Usually the course will take around 90 hours to complete.

    Course Outcomes

    With the bookkeeping Level’s 2, 3 and 4 courses you have two options:

    1) The course can be studied for personal interest and development without assessment and we can provide you with a completion certificate.

    2) You can opt to take the examinations online from home. On successful completion of the examinations, you will gain three bookkeeping qualifications: the ICB Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping, the ICB Level 3 Certificate in Bookkeeping and Accounts, and the ICB Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Bookkeeping and Accounts. Passing these qualifications will enable you to gain Full membership status with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and use the letters MICB after your name, proving your qualifications to potential employers and clients.

    With the ICB Diploma in Payroll Management you have two options:

    1) The course can be studied for personal interest and development without assessment and we can provide you with a completion certificate.

    2) You can choose to take the ICB examination in Payroll Management. On successful completion you will gain an official ICB level 3 certificate in Payroll Management and an OSCA (Open Study College Award).

What skills and requirements are needed to enrol onto this course?

No prior bookkeeping knowledge is needed to enrol onto this course, but you should have basic numerical skills. You will also need to have access to a computer with a CD-ROM drive in order to use your Sage Payroll software.

Will the Sage software work on any computer?

The Sage 50 Accounts software will only work on computers which run Windows 7 or higher, therefore Sage will not run on Windows XP. Sage software will not run on any Apple Macintosh computer.

The Sage 50 Payroll software will work with all 32 or 64-bit variants of Microsoft Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Window Server 2008 R2, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Small Business Server 2011. Sage software will not run on any Apple Macintosh computer. Please email us for full specification and compatibility details.

Do I have to sit an exam?

You have the option of sitting the ICB examinations. However, if you choose not to take the exam, we can issue you with a certificate proving that you have completed the course.

Are there any additional costs?

If you decide to sit the ICB exams, there will be a charge payable to the ICB and your chosen assessment centre.
