    Gti Anatomy and  Physiology Theory:

    Before you go onto your practical day you will need to have completed the Gti Anatomy & Physiology Theory part of the course. This is essential for your practical training day. This will cover all of the anatomy and physiology required for the Level 2 and 3 National Occupational Standards (NOS) for beauty, nails and holistic therapy treatments. This will take 30 hours to complete.

  • Assessment

    This course will be assessed through a series of written assignments, which will be sent to and marked by your tutor. After you have completed the Massage Level 3 theory part of this course you will then progress onto the Gti anatomy and physiology theory work with a hlaf day attendance in the classroom. All modules and examinations for this are completed online with full online support. Your coursework must be completed before you can proceed onto your 3 practical training days. You practical days will consist of you giving various treatments to others.

    Course Duration

    Once enrolled, you can start at any time and have 24 months to complete your studies. This course will allow you to study at your own pace and in your own time, without the pressure of tight deadlines. This means that learning around your other commitments is stress-free and convenient. You will also take part in 3.5 days of practical training.

  • Study Method

    The course is designed for study by distance learning at home or at work. For the massage Level 3 theory you will receive course materials, assignments and tutor support.  The Anatomy and Physiology section of this bundle is only available to be studied online with half a day's attendance,. You will also receive a copy of the Guild’s full colour 480 page anatomy and physiology text book. You will also need to attend 3 practical training days, in which you have a choice of over 20 centres to choose from throughout the UK in major cities.

    Please note the 3.5 practical days will be split rather than taking place over 3.5 consecutive days to minimise impact on working and family life. This also enables students to choose when and where the practicals take place.

    Course Outcomes

    At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (This lists details of all the units you have completed as part of your course).

    The course itself has been designed by Open Study College to meet specific learners’ or employers’ requirements. The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards’ Quality Licence Scheme. This means Open Study College have undergone external quality checks to ensure that the organisation and the courses’ it offers meet a high standard. Regular reviews of our courses are carried out as part of the endorsement process.

    The completion of this course alone does not lead to an Ofqual regulated qualification, but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future. The unit summary can be used as evidence towards your Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this sector.

    The course depth and study has been benchmarked at Level 3 against level descriptors published by Ofqual.

    ABC Awards are a national awarding organisation that have years of experience in developing and awarding high quality vocational qualifications across a wide range of industries. They have a comprehensive portfolio of over 650 Ofqual regulated qualifications on the national Qualifications and Credit framework (QCF) for all ages and abilities post-14.

    The Anatomy and Physiology theory part of this course will be accredited by The Guild of Beauty Therapists. Guild Accredited courses are recognised throughout the industry for their content and delivery. Once completing this practical day you will be able to obtain insurance and membership from the Guild which will enable you to carry out and charge for treatments on members of the public.

    This will cover all of the anatomy and physiology required for the Level 2 and 3 National Occupational Standards (NOS) for beauty, nails and holistic therapy treatments. Once you have completed this part of the course you can apply for full guild membership (which includes insurance cover for over £6 million of treatment, public and product liability. 

    The Swedish body and Indian head massage practical days will be accredited by Professional Beauty Direct. Professional Beauty Direct have arranged insurance cover for over 11,000 salon owners and individual beauticians, nail technicians and hair stylists, most of which now manage their policies online. Once accredited, you will benefit from being affiliated to Professional Beauty and Professional Beauty Direct Insurance.

What are the requirements for this course?

You do not need any previous knowledge or skills to enrol onto this course.

However please note that the online GTi test for the Anatomy and Physiology theory, currently do not run on some mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads and are not compatible with Google Chrome browsers. If in doubt, please contact us for advice.

In order to progress onto your practical days you will have needed to complete the GTi Anatomy and Physiology Theory and half a day attendance.

On your hot stone practical day you will be required to bring with you the hand sanitiser and massage oil which we supply you with. You will be sent these when you have booked onto this practical day. You will also need to bring with you 2 bath towels and 6 face cloths, which you will have to purchase yourself.

You may be required to bring you own model on your practical days.

Is there a time limit for the completion of this course?

You may start at any time and have a full year to complete your studies. It is truly flexible and is designed to be adaptable around your lifestyle and other commitments.

Once you have passed your written assignments and your anatomy and physiology theory, you may book your practical days. You have the choice of over 20 centres to choose from to take your practical training days. Simply call us whenever you're ready and we'll help arrange this for you.

Do I have to sit an exam?

You will have to take an online exam for the anatomy and physiology theory part of this course.

Are there any additional costs?

If you haven’t already got these you will have to purchase 2 bath towels and 6 face cloths for your hot stone massage practical day.

How do I get my work assessed?

You will send your assignments to your personal course tutor for them to mark and return to you. On successful completion of the course you will be awarded your Level 3 certification in Massage.

What happens if I lose my course pack?
