For those budding digital and computer enthusiasts this teen coding with Python course will teach kids everything they need to know about the most in demand coding languages in the world!

This will boost computer skills and give a whole new range of skills that may not be available at school.

Discover how to use Python and the core coding principles including variables, loops, if statements, and functions. Create data structures and learn how to program design patterns and make reusable code.

Course requirements

There are a number of requirements needed before you or your child enrol onto this course. Students must be 14-17 years old.

Computer requirements

A basic laptop from the last five years will be sufficient. You will need to have your own device in order to connect to our online learning platform. We recommend the following PCs are suitable.

MacOS
– MacOs 10.12 or later
– All intel based Macbooks and iMacs since 2015
– 8GB RAM
– Min 1GB available storage

Windows Device
– Windows 7 or later
– Using Intels i3 (i5 recommended) since 2013
– 8GB RAM
– Min 1gb storage space available

Internet speed

– 15mbps connection or better is recommended.

For reference, if you can stream YouTube videos full screen without buffering and it looks good then you’re good to go!

Study Method

This course will be studied through distance learning online. Learn when and wherever you can, as long as you have access to internet. All of the course will be available online, so receiving your materials is easy.

You will also receive personal tutor support through the online portal. Ideal for home schooling or extracurricular skills.

Students will work independently at their own pace through learning materials and assignments, and also have weekly live onscreen tutorials for sharing progress and problem-solving.

There are 5 weekly tutorials, lasting 1 hour each. These tutorials are led by an expert, fully DBS-checked instructor, and students will join a small group of other young learners online, working together in fun and interactive sessions. All sessions are monitored and recorded for safety.

Assessment

All of the course is housed on an online learning platform. There are a number of tasks to complete and an informal quiz to test skills learnt.

Course Outcome

At the end of the course, students will have key skills needed for understanding and writing code.  Once they have finished the course, their profile with XP points (Experience Points) will be sent by email.

Lead Teachers have a strong background in education coupled with technical expertise in the area they teach. They are supported by course Instructors, who are most frequently talented Computer Science and Engineering students. All our instructors undergo in-person training in the curriculum of the course and in Child Safety Policies.

We select our instructors on technical expertise but also for great communication skills and a real passion for their subject.

If you do not have a computer that meets the computer requirements, we can provide a
cloud-based solution for most courses. This will give you access to a high-spec computer
via the cloud, meaning you simply use a very basic device that can access the internet and
has a screen, keyboard and mouse.
Internet speed of 15mbps connection or better is recommended. If you can stream YouTube videos full screen without buffering and it looks good then you’re good to go!
