Course overview

  • Discover the different approaches to counselling, such as humanistic, behavioural and psycho-dynamic.
  • Develop your knowledge of cognitive behavioural principles in addition to core CBT skills.
  • Learn how to maintain and be in control of a professional counsellor relationship.
  • Increase your knowledge of specific psychological disorders and the underpinning theories of counselling and CBT.

Would you like to boost your career opportunities as a Counsellor or a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist? Why not consider doing both?

Most counsellors have an area of specialism, and since CBT is recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), it has become a desirable specialism for counsellors to add to their skills.

This combined course will teach key counselling skills and approaches, as well as providing you with additional knowledge of CBT theory and techniques.

All course materials will be delivered to you by post or via email, so it couldn’t be easier. Our experienced and friendly tutors will help you every step of the way by email.

This bundle is approved by the ACCPH (Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and Hypnotherapists), at the end of this course students will be able to join and become a member of the ACCPH. The ACCPH is an independent self-regulated professional body for counsellors, psychotherapists and hypnotherapists.

What is CBT?

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that is commonly used to treat anxiety and depression, but it can also be used to treat other mental and physical problems.

It is based on the concept that negative thoughts can trap you in a cycle, with its aim to break down problems to smaller parts to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way.
