You will receive an AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 2 and an AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 3.

You must be 16 years old in order to enrol onto this course, as well as have basic mathematical skills and IT literacy.

Tutor Marked Assignments and five computer-based assessments.

AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 3

  • Applying the principles of advanced double-entry bookkeeping
  • Implementing procedures for the acquisition and disposal of non-current assets
  • Preparing and recording depreciation calculations
  • Recording period and adjustments
  • Recording period and adjustments Producing and extending the trial balance
  • Distinguishing between the financial recording and reporting requirements of different types of organisation 
  • Explaining the need for final accounts and the accounting and ethical principles underlying their preparation
  • Preparing accounting records from incomplete information
  • Producing accounts for sole traders
  • Producing accounts for partnership
  • Recognising the key differences between preparing accounts for a limited company and a sole trader

Assessment

During this course you will complete a number of Tutor Marked Assignments in preparation for your exams.

To achieve the AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 2, you will need to sit two computer-based assessments. These are sat under controlled conditions at an external exam centre.

To achieve the AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping Level 3, you will need to sit three computer-based assessments. These are sat under controlled conditions at an external exam centre

Exams are not included in the cost of this course. You will need to book your exams directly with the exam centre.

Course Duration

You will have up to 2 years to complete your course from the date of enrolment. This is enough time for you to work at your own pace.

Study Method

Once you enrol, you will receive all course materials by post and receive full tutor support for 2 years by email. Once registered with AAT you will also have access to online resources and additional support materials, including sample assessments.

To sit your exams, you must join AAT as a student member, which will then give you access to their resources. It is your own responsibility to pay for your student membership and exam fees, which are both payable to AAT.

You will also need to pay for your exams, these fees will be paid directly to the exam centre.
