This qualification replaced the CTLLS course in September 2015 and is the next level up from the level 3 award.

The course will allow you to study when and where you want, at your own pace. You will receive all of the course material through an online eLearning portal, so it couldn’t be easier. You will receive the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training awarded by Training Qualifications UK (TQUK).

Entry Requirements

You must have successfully achieved the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (formerly PTLLS). New entrants must have a Level 3, or equivalent qualification as a minimum in their own subject area. You must be 19 years or older to enrol onto this course. It is also a mandatory requirement that trainee teachers have a mentor who is currently a teacher or at Level 4 and above to offer all the support they need in the working environment. You should also have an idea of what subjects you’d like to teach.

Assessment

You will be assessed through ongoing assignments that will take place throughout the programme. You will also be observed during your teaching practice, twice by a suitably qualified colleague in your work environment and once by your tutor. The session that is observed by your tutor can be recorded. The two sessions that are observed by a work colleague must be live.

All of your assignments are completed and stored online and, as such, can be accessed from any venue with access to the internet. This means you can complete your award from work or home.

Study Method

You will be studying through an online portal which will include interactive modules with associated assignments. You will have access to online personal tutor support to help you throughout the course, which will be available via email.

Course Duration

You have up to 26 weeks to complete this course. This is more than enough time to give you flexibility and work at your own pace without the pressure of deadlines.
