Course overview

For those budding digital and computer enthusiasts, this teen coding with Python Advanced course will teach kids everything they need to know about the most in-demand coding languages in the world!

This will boost computer skills and give a whole new range of skills that may not be available at school.

Discover how to use Python and the core coding principles including variables, loops, if statements, and functions. Create data structures and learn how to program design patterns and make reusable code.

Set up their future and enrol on a course with lifelong coding language skills that can be used for future education or jobs!

Students will also gain access to an online classroom where they will be able to post questions for tutors to respond to. In addition to this, they will also be invited to a monthly live Q&A session with a tutor, optional but encouraged, to help learners get the most out of their course.

Course requirements

There are a number of requirements needed before you or your child enrol on this course. Recommended for teens between 14-17 years old.

Virtual sessions

You must be 17 or under to participate in the virtual classroom sessions for safeguarding reasons.

Computer requirements 

A basic laptop from the last five years will be sufficient. You will need to have your own device in order to connect to our online learning platform. We recommend the following PCs are suitable.

MacOS
– MacOs 10.12 or later
– All intel based Macbooks and iMacs since 2015
– 8GB RAM
– Min 1GB available storage

Windows Device
– Windows 7 or later
– Using Intels i3 (i5 recommended) since 2013
– 8GB RAM
– Min 1gb storage space available

 

Internet speeds

– 15mbps connection or better is recommended.

For reference, if you can stream YouTube videos full screen without buffering and it looks good then you’re good to go!

 

Study Method

This course will be studied through distance learning online. Learn when and wherever you can, as long as you have access to the internet. The course will be available online, so receiving your materials is easy.

Students will work independently at their own pace through learning materials and assignments, and will also receive tutor support via email and telephone.

Virtual sessions

A virtual classroom is set up for students to ask their tutor any questions as they progress their course, in addition to a live monthly Q&A session.

Please note: you must be 17 or under to participate in the virtual classroom sessions for safeguarding reasons.

Assessment

All of the course is housed on an online learning platform. There are a number of tasks to complete and an informal quiz to test skills learnt.

Course Outcome

At the end of the course, students will be competent in understanding and developing computer coding with the program Python. Once they have finished the course, their profile with XP (experience points) will be sent by email.
