Course overview

GCSE Foundation French is a great starting point if you're new to the language.

The AQA French Foundation specification is designed to develop both your language skills and your understanding of culture. You will study three main themes, applying grammar appropriate to the foundation tier.

The three themes are:

  • People and lifestyle
  • Popular culture and communication
  • The world around us

Your course will include support from a course specialist tutor, including up to nine one-to-one sessions to help you prepare for your speaking assessment.

Please note: As a foundation tier course, you can achieve a GCSE grade between 1-5, compared to the higher tier course, which covers grades 4-9.
