This Veterinary Support Assistant course has been developed for learners with an interest in veterinary nursing or becoming a veterinary nurse assistant.  It will provide you with a broad knowledge base.  

The course will give you an understanding of the roles of the members of the veterinary team and the legal and ethical system in which they work; an awareness of basic anatomy and physiology of the dog and cat, and a working knowledge of Health and Safety within veterinary practice. 

The course will also explore the important topic of infection control in the veterinary practice and will explain the basic veterinary equipment used commonly within the practice.

  • Assessment

    The Veterinary Support Assistant course is assessed by a series of written assignments, which are submitted to and marked by your tutor. There is no external examination required.

    Course Duration

    You may start at any time and have a full year to complete your studies. We suggest that the course will take approximately 100 hours to complete. This is more than enough time to give you flexibility and work at your own pace without the pressure of deadlines.

  • Study Method

    The course is designed for study by distance learning at home or at work. Students receive a course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail or email. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to one year from the time of registration.

    Course Outcomes

    At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by Training Qualifications UK (TQUK).
