    Unit 1: Health and safety
    • Identify the hazards and evaluate the risks in your work place
    • Reduce the risks to health and safety in the work place
    • Know and understand how to make sure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
    • Identify ways to improve personal performance at work
    • Work effectively as part of a team
    • Understand salon roles, procedures and targets
  • Unit 2: Customer service
    • Identify and promote additional services or products that are available
    • Know the relevant legislation for the sale of goods

    Unit 3: Threading:
    • Working safely and hygienically when providing threading treatments, in order to minimise cross infection and understand the importance of personal presentation
    • Comprehensively complete consultation forms, with understanding of contraindications including skin diseases and disorders
    • Describe the different layers of the skin and their functions
    • Describe the different types of hair and describe the 3 stages of a hair growth cycle
    • Describe the advantages and disadvantages of threading
    • Perform and understand a threading treatment on the upper lip, eyebrow, facial, and arm area
    • Describe aftercare advice and complete a treatment plan specific to the client

  • Assessment

    This course will be assessed through a series of written assignments, which will be sent and marked by your tutor. Your coursework must be completed before you can proceed onto the one day practical training.

    Course Duration

    You may start at any time and have a full year to complete your studies. This is more than enough time to give you flexibility and work at your own pace without the pressure of deadlines.  

  • Study Method

    The course is designed for study by distance learning at home or at work. You will receive your course materials by post or online and will also need to attend a one day practical training. You choose out of over 20 centres throughout the UK in major cities where you would like to take your practical day.

    Course Outcome

    At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (This lists details of all the units you have completed as part of your course).

    Professional Beauty Direct have arranged insurance cover for over 11,000 salon owners and individual beauticians, nail technicians and hair stylists, most of which now manage their policies online. Once accredited, you will benefit from being affiliated to Professional Beauty and Professional Beauty Direct Insurance.

    Habia is recognised by government as the Standards Setting Body for the hair and beauty industries and plays an essential role in maintaining and improving professionalism within them. Part of the Skills Active group the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Wellbeing allows the hair and beauty industry more opportunities and access to a wealth of experience and resources for the sector.

What are the requirements for this course?

You must ensure you have a minimum of 3mm hair growth.
