This course is assessed by a series of written assignments which are marked by your tutor. No external examination is required. Your coursework must be completed before you can proceed onto the practical day.
Once enrolled, you will have 12 months to complete this course. This is more than enough time to give you flexibility and work at your own pace without the pressure of deadlines. Your practical day will last 6.5 hours.
You will study this course through distance learning, which means you can learn at a time and place to suit you. Your course materials will be delivered to you by post or online, so receiving your course is easy and hassle-free. Tutor support is also available by email, so help is only a click away! You will send your assignments to your tutor for marking. Assignments can be sent by email or post, it’s up to you. You will also need to attend a day’s practical training.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement from ABC Awards and Certa Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (which lists the components the learner has completed as part of the course).
The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards and Certa Awards Quality Licence Scheme. The completion of this course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. Your practical training will be accredited through the Hair and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA) who set the standards for training for the UK. You will also receive a Certificate in Special Occasion Make-Up from Ellison’s Academy.
You will need to have a Level 2 in Make-up or have previously studied our Introduction to Professional Make-up Level 2 course before enrolling onto this course. Take a look at our Introduction to Make-up Level 2 course.
For your practical day you will be required to carry out the treatments on each other. You will also need to bring with you a full set of professional brushes and may wish to bring a camera to record your work.
Once enrolled, you have 12 months to complete this course. It is truly flexible and is designed to be adaptable around your lifestyle and other commitments.
Once you have passed your written assignments, you may book your practical day. Simply call us whenever you're ready and we'll arrange this for you. You will need to take your practical training at a venue in Coventry.

No. We will issue your certification based on your coursework and practical session.
You will need to purchase a full set of professional make-up brushes to bring with you on your practical day. The venue does have a warehouse located next to it, so you are able to purchase equipment and products on the day if you wish to do so.
You will send your work to your personal course tutor for them to mark and return to you.
