  • Assessment

    This course is assessed by a variety of methods, including 2 multiple-choice examinations, a practical assessment at a gym, coursework and a portfolio. 

    Assessment Day

    Once you have passed your assessments, you may book your exam/practical assessment. Simply call us whenever you're ready and we'll provide you with the details for arranging this. The exam/practical sessions are run on a student demand basis, with 8 students taking the exam/practical sessions at a time. 

    Your examination and practical assessment will take place on the same day at a gym in either Birmingham or Burton-on-Trent, West Midlands.

    Course Duration

    This course will take approximately 245 hours to complete. Once enrolled, you will receive a full year to complete the course, which is a lot more time than you will need. This allows you to work at your own pace, without the pressure of tight deadlines.

  • Study Method

    You will study this course by distance learning, which will enable you to learn when and where you want. You can study from home or at work; it is completely up to you. You will receive access to an online learning platform including a variety of visual, audio and text-based presentations. Your personal tutor will be there to support you by email, so help is only a click away!

    eLearning System Requirements

    You will need Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer, which can be downloaded free of charge from the Adobe website. You will also need to ensure your computer is able to play sound as some of the videos include audio.

    Course Outcomes

    At the end of this course successful learners will receive an ActiveIQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training. This means that you will achieve a Level 3 qualification on The Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

    Your qualification is accredited by Active IQ, one of the UK's leading Ofqual approved awarding bodies in the health, fitness and active leisure sector. This qualification will provide level 3 entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). REPs is an independent public register which provides regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure that they meet National Occupational Standards agreed by the health and fitness industry. This will enable you to obtain public liability insurance to practise as a Personal Trainer.

    Membership with REPs is valued and respected, enhancing employability, and is recognised in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

    Once you have completed this course, you will be offered a guaranteed place on a recruitment day at your nearest SWEAT Union gym. The possible locations are:

What are the requirements needed to enrol onto this course?

To enrol on this Level 3 qualification, you must have passed a Level 2 QCF registered gym fitness instruction course. We have one available here.

Students must be 16 or over to enrol on this course and a degree of physical fitness is necessary to complete the practical assessments. It is also recommended that you have some experience of gym-based exercise, including free weights, and basic level communication skills.

Is there a time limit for the completion of this course?

You may start at any time and have a full year to complete your studies. It is truly flexible and is designed to be adaptable around your lifestyle and other commitments.

How do I arrange to attend my assessment day?

Once you have passed your Learner Achievement Portfolio, you may book to confirm your attendance. Simply email your tutor who will advise you on assessment dates. Alternatively call us whenever you're ready and we'll provide you with the details for arranging this. The practical sessions are run on a student demand basis, with 8 students taking the practical sessions at a time.

    At the moment I can only write about Gym Level 2 as I have not started level 3 yet. I am very happy with it, but somehow I need to find the way to spend more time to study. I wanted to study this subject, because I have been very interested in sport.

    I did horse riding before for 8 years. 2 years ago I changed my job and since then I have been working in a restaurant, what is inside of a leisure centre. I met a women here from my country and she works here as a personal trainer. I have been training with her for 2 years and I just love it. We also started to do studio work such as step and dance aerobic, so we do a few days in the studio and a few days in the gym every week.

    I can strongly recommend this college to all my friend!
