Course Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.

However, you may find it useful to have obtained the IOSH courses first. You will also need a good grasp of English to ensure they understand the terminology covered within the course materials.

Course Duration

You will have up to 1 year to complete your course, which is plenty of time to ensure you are able to study for your course at your own pace. The approximate study time is 100 hours but you can take as much or as little time as you need.

Study Method

You will study for your course entirely online and receive full tutor support through email.

The online portal makes learning more interactive with presentations, audio recordings and interactive modules.


You will be assessed by 1 written exam and 1 workplace assessment.


The exam is a written exam and is 1 hour long.

Your exam will need to be sat at an approved exam centre. There are several spanning the UK in Bolton, Hull, Birmingham, Coventry, Bristol, London, Dublin, Belfast, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

These take place in March, June, September and December of every year.

Workplace assessment

You will have to complete a workplace assessment. This can be carried out within your place of work. No external assessor is needed. The course content will give you what is needed for this assessment. Details of this will be released 3 weeks before your submission date.

You will need to pay an additional fee for your exam.

Course Outcome

If you are successful, you will receive your industry recognised NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.

Completion of the course also allows you to gain AIOSH, TechIOSH and AIIRSM membership.
