There are 2 national exams and 6 assignments to complete for this course.

You will have to sit exams for the for unit 1 (leading, managing and developing people) and unit 2 (human resources management in context).

The exams take place in January, May or September of every year. These take place in either London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol or Glasgow. You will need to be able to travel to at least one of these locations in order to take your exams.

Course duration

You have 2 years to complete your course. Each unit needs to be completed within a specific timeframe:

  • Leading managing and developing people – 15 weeks
  • Human resources management in context – 15 weeks
  • Investigating a business issue from a HR perspective – 24 weeks
  • Developing skills for business leadership – 14 weeks
  • Employment law – 9 weeks
  • Managing employment relations – 9 weeks
  • Resourcing and talent management – 9 weeks
  • Employee engagement – 9 weeks
  • Organisational design and organisation development – 9 weeks
  • Leadership and management development – 9 weeks

Study method

This is a blended learning approach with a mixture of both face to face workshops and online study. The course runs at various dates in the year and you will be provided with a timetable indicating when each unit is running.

You will need to attend 18 full day workshops in order to study your course. You will need to be able to travel to one of the following locations: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol or Glasgow.

You will also be given access to the Virtual Learning Environment with excellent study support. It has access to live interactive webinars during your course. All of which are on demand so you can revisit them as much as you like!

Course outcomes

Upon completion of the course, successful students will receive their Level 7 Advanced Diploma in HR. You will then be able to upgrade to the esteemed CIPD Chartered Membership. You will be invited to the graduation ceremony upon completion of your Level 7 Diploma. Students may also apply for the following job roles:

You must have already been in a HR role for at least 3 years. As this qualification is advanced and most assessments require you to have high writing skills – it is recommended that you have a degree or equivalent.

You will also need to have access to data within your job role to complete the course.

Yes. There are two exams you will need to take in order to receive your diploma. These will need to be booked by the student with CIPD separately. Your exams will take place in the following locations:
