  • Unit 1: Advanced Bookkeeping (GLH: 90)
    • Applying the principles of advanced double-entry bookkeeping
    • Implementing procedures for the acquisition and disposal of non-current assets
    • Preparing and recording depreciation calculations
    • Recording period and adjustments
    • Producing and extending the trail balance
  • Unit 2: Final Accounts Preparation (GLH: 60)
    • Distinguishing between the financial recording and reporting requirements of different types of organisation 
    • Explaining the need for final accounts and the accounting and ethical principles underlying their preparation
    • Preparing accounting records from incomplete information
    • Producing accounts for sole traders
    • Producing accounts for partnership
    • Recognising the key differences between preparing accounts for a limited company and a sole trader
    Unit 3: Indirect Tax (GLH: 60)
    • Understanding and applying VAT legislation requirements
    • Accurately completing VAT returns and submitting them in a timely manner
    • Understanding implications of errors, omissions and late filling and payment
    • Reporting VAT related information in accordance with regulatory and organisational requirement

  • Assessment

    This course is assessed by four AAT computer-based assessments, which are completed online at an external test centre. As well as seven tutor marked assessments. This provides complete flexibility and the opportunity to progress more quickly if desired. Your tutor will help you to decide when you are ready to take the assessments.

    Course Duration

    This course takes approximately 200 hours to complete. You will have a year from your enrolment date to complete your course, allowing you to work at your own pace.

  • Study Method

    Once you enrol, you will receive all course materials by post and receive full tutor support for a year by email and telephone. Once you have registered with AAT you will also have online access to online resources and additional support materials, including sample assessments.

    On successful completion of your AAT exams you will receive a Certificate awarded by The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Are there any additional costs?

To sit your exams, you must join AAT as a student member, which will then give you access to their resources.  It is your own responsibility to pay for your student membership and exam fees, which are both payable to AAT. You will also need to pay your assessment centre fee’s, which will be paid directly to them.
