Do you want to become a successful student but feel as though information is going in one ear and out the other? Then don’t get discouraged, there are many study techniques to help you. You just need to find out the ones that work for you. Try out these 5 tips that can help you study better:
Create a study plan
Planning your study time is a great way to get organised and help you feel more relaxed about your learning. Sticking to a plan will enable you to avoid those late-night cramming sessions and those struggles to complete your course on time. Find out how to make a study plan
Keep a List of Questions
Whilst reading your learning material, note down anything you don’t understand on a separate piece of paper. You can then go back to your list and research things you’re not sure of. Remember your personal tutor is also there to help you throughout your course, so ask them!
Use diagrams and doodles
Using diagrams and doodles make large amounts of information easier to read and remember. You will be able to relate a doodle to key information, which will make it hard to forget important data.
It is important you test yourself. Come up with questions from your course materials and try to answer them. At the end if any are wrong then this will show you what areas you need to work on and read over. Flashcards are great for testing your knowledge and boosting your memory – so why not give them a go!
In order to pass your course it is vital that you set yourself some study goals and create a plan. This will help in outlining what you need to do and when, making you keep yourself on track. Starting your course early will also help in getting that head start you need to familiarise yourself with the course structure and your tutors marking.
