Whenever I applied for a decent job or a course it said ‘Applicants must have GCSE maths C or above’. I decided that I would not let this hold me back anymore. Now I have my GCSE Maths grade B and I can apply for all those jobs that I couldn’t before! The course seemed less stressful than when I was in year 11, as I could work at my own pace before the exam, and get a personal response from my course tutor when I needed help.

I found this course to be tricky, as it has been many years since I was in a maths lesson! But my perseverance paid off as I can now progress more easily without being the only applicant without that all important qualification.
