"This made a great introduction to Animal care for me because it gave me a great overview of the subject by covering a series of different animal groups.

Now I've completed the course I will work on the Stable Managament course because out of the groups covered I was most interested in looking after Horses, I always wanted one when I was a little girl so I think that's probably why!"

"I grew up in a home where we always had at least 2 dogs (at one stage we had 4, we seemed to attract loveable strays!), so I've always loved animals and wanted to know more but I already had a full-time job and I didn't want to give up a steady wage to study full-time.

I'd heard of home learning but never tried it and when my friend told me about the open study college I had a look at her course pack (she was studying beauty therapy), I spoke to a course advisor and went through the course syllabus and with the cost being a lot lower than a full-time course and it being a recognised qualification (I did a search for NCFE on google) I thought I'd give it a try. I had access to a tutor who answered my questions by email and if I needed to I could phone her, but I didn't need to speak with her a lot as the course books explained things very well.

I'm glad I tried home learning and if I ever look at any other course I'd give you guys a call straightaway."

3 stars "Covers a wide variety of animals, very educational"

"I already knew a fair amount about domestic pets like Dogs, Cats and a little bit about Rabbits, but it covered things I hadn't heard before and it was fun to leanr more about birds and the section about reptiles (I didn't know anything about snakes, but I was surprised by how interesting it was).

I'm knocking off 1 star because the course arrived slightly late, but I'd still enrol on another course if I spotted one that I liked the look of."

4 stars "Are you killing your own dog by being too kind?"

"Sounds a bit dramatic doesn't it? But until I studied this course I wasn't aware of the damage of overfeeding your Dog, each time you think you are treating your loveable little pooch you could be doing real damage.

I know that you can feed a dog the wrong type of food but I didn't know enough about the right type of food, the benefits of a balanced diet and how to achieve it.

Each module opened my eyes to a lot of things I didn't know and as an animal lover it's great to have a much better understanding of how to keep my pets in tip-top condition!

My friend is now enrolled on the course so she can change jobs, I studied it for my own enjoyment and it was certainly worth it."
