"Changed my career!"

"As soon as I'd clicked that button to order my course I was immediately on my path to a new career. Just over a year ago (wow! it seems like a few days ago!) I was looking for a way to break free of my old job - it just didn't make me happy and I knew what I wanted to do, I wanted a childcare job.

I'd been looking to get onto a course for ages but I kept finding the same problem again and again, I couldn't get a part time course at the right time and the right day of the week, thats when I found Open Study College and after I had a chat with a course advisor. We talked about the options I had, the courses they offered and how home learning works.

In a few days my course pack was open in front of me as soon as I'd finished work and I was starting to change my career. Each section I studied, each question I answered was another step to where I wanted my life to be.

The most impressive part of my home study course was that I had guidance every step of the way from my course tutor. I'd call her if I needed to talk to her about anything I wasn't quite clear on... it felt great to get some extra information and it was so reassuring to know I had her as a safety net - whenever I needed to find out how to improve my assignments, either a call or an email and I was soon back up and running towards my goal.

The best part was studying at times that suited me. Sometimes I'd study on Tuesday nights (after watching Eastender, of course), but I didn't have to. If I'd had a hard day at work or wanted to go out for a drink with friends I'd do some studying later in the week. I studied when I wanted to.

I never had any strict deadlines for coursework so I could enjoy learning. It's easy to get demotivated when you're stuck in a rigid timetable, by the end you find you're just getting through it... thats why the time and flexibility I had with home learning meant I could enjoy my course from start to finish, and don't you find that when you enjoy something the result is much better?

I've just started my own childcare service at my house. It's the job I wanted, I've done what I wanted to do, but I'll never forget the first step was when my Open Study College course arrived!"
