Galileo is one of the industry standard booking and reservation systems. This course will train you to understand and use the Galileo Reservations System. With many travel companies requiring a comprehensive knowledge of online booking systems it is essential to be competent with Galileo. This course gives you a very good introduction to all areas of the Galileo system: Flight Reservations, Automated Fares & Ticketing, Car Hire & Hotel Reservations (Room Master).

Galileo is a computer reservations system owned by Travelport.  It was developed in 1971 by United Airlines.  Galileo holds around 25% of the global travel market and it very strong in Europe, making it an ideal piece of software to understand if you want a career in the travel industry.  Airlines such as Air Canada, Aer Lingus, Swiss Air and United Airlines use this system and companies such as Ebookers, Portman Travel, P&O and HRG.

This Galileo course is recognised all over the world and is fully compliant with IATA's GDS (International Air Transport Association's Global Distribution Systems) requirements.

Assessment

This Galileo course is assessed online using our Online Learning Environment and Galileo Simulator. You will take a series of tests as you progress through the course. There is also a Galileo exam that is taken online at the end of your course and requires 1 hour to complete.

This is a self-study course. You will not be allocated a tutor as all support is self-contained within the course materials. You will however receive technical support. 

Study Method

This course is run online through our Online Galileo Training facility, which provides a Galileo Simulator so you can use the software as you learn. The course also refers to and uses a workbook (provided).

Qualifications

Upon completion of this Galileo course you will receive a Galileo certificate to use as proof of competency which will be widely accepted by employers. The training can even complement academic courses such as HND, Diplomas & VCEs where required.

Q: What skills are needed to enrol onto this course?

We would advise a basic set of computer skills in order to be successful on this course as it is based online.

Q: Is there a time limit for completion of this course?

There is no time limit to complete the course however you have a total of 40 hours of access to the Online Learning Environment, which is more than sufficient to complete the course.

Q: What is included in the cost of my course?

Q: Do I have to sit an exam?

We will issue certification based on your coursework and a series of online tests. There is a short exam at the end of the course, but this is done online and takes around an hour to complete.

Q: Are there any additional costs?

No, everything you need is included in the price. You will need to ensure that you have access to a computer, connected to the internet to complete this Galileo course.

Q: Can I get IATA points?

The IATA points system has been dismantled as from January 2006, when the accreditation criteria for the UK had been changed and training points are no longer a requirement for a travel agency to obtain IATA accreditation.

Q: How do I get my work assessed?

You will take online tests via our Online Galileo Learning Environment.
