Equality and Diversity are important factors in our personal and work lives. Equality helps us live in a fair society where people are recognised as individuals and are able to participate. Diversity recognises that everyone is an individual. In a work force, Diversity is important as different kinds of people have different ideas.
This home study course has been written for anyone who is responsible for training and development of staff. The course will teach students how to understand the difference between Equality & Diversity, how to recognise the identity and needs of different people and current legislation regarding equality in the workplace.
Course Content
Unit 1: Intermediate Equality & Diversity in the Workplace
- The differences between equality and diversity
- Understanding different types of groups in society
- Current legislation
- Understanding the concepts of bullying and harassment as forms of discrimination
- Understand the impact of discrimination on an individual and organisation
- How working practices support or cause barriers to equality and diversity
Unit 2: An Overview of Equality & Diversity Issues
- Be aware of concepts of identity and of the individual in relations to other people
- Awareness of the need of the individual and the organisation
- Prejudice & Discrimination
- Bullying, Harassment, Racism, Sexism and Stereotyping
- Presence of practical and communication barriers
- Key components that would be instrumental in actions and planning in support of equality and diversity.
Unit 3: Equality & Fairness in Development for Employees
- Culture and beliefs
- Group Behaviour
- Different cultures found in the workplace and community
- Improvements that can be made to ensure making a group or workplace fairer
- Understanding what diversity is and how to promote it
- Understand ways of dealing with conflict
Course Duration
This home learning course will take approximately 100 hours and we provide a full 12 months to complete the course.
Assessment
The Equality and Diversity course assessment takes the form of a series of written assignments, which are submitted and marked by your tutor. There is no external examination required.
Study Method
The course is designed for study by distance learning at home or at work. Students receive a course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail or email. You can start at any time and there are no time limits on this home learning course.
Qualifications
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Level 3 NCFE Award certificate of achievement. That means that it is independently accredited at a level of learning equivalent to level 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland"
NCFE is recognised as an awarding body by the qualification regulators ('regulators') for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The regulators are the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator (Ofqual) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.
