CeMAP Mortgage Adviser Level 3

CeMAP® which stands for “Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice” is the industry standard qualification held by mortgage advisers in the UK and is considered the benchmark qualification in the financial services industry. Once you have completed this course you will be a fully qualified mortgage adviser and be able to provide mortgage advice either self-employed or on behalf of a lender such as a high-street bank or building society.

As a mortgage adviser you will; advise your clients on the house-purchase process, help to look at your client's finances, discuss and explain different types of mortgage products, present advise on a number of mortgages for the client to choose from, provide help for the customer in order for them to complete the mortgage application and sell related financial products such as buildings insurance and payment protection. You would also be required to meet sales targets, deal with valuers, estate agents and mortgage lenders and keep up to date with mortgage products and any changes in financial laws.

Mortgage Advisers can earn in excess of £50,000 and your salary package may also include extra perks such as a company car and pension benefits. With the economy and housing market set to grow over the next few years it’s an ideal time to become a CeMAP® qualified mortgage adviser. At present the number of people qualified is only 25% of the actual demand for mortgage advisers.

CeMAP® 3 - Assessment of Mortgage Advice Knowledge

  • You will study specimen Case Study Papers
  • You will then take 3 CeMAP® Assessments:
    • Modules 1 and 2 are assessed in a two hour exam consisting of 100 multiple choice questions. Module three is assessed in a two hour exam, but is made up of 60 questions based on six case studies.
    • Examinations can be taken in most Towns and Cities throughout the UK (at Pearson Vue Examination Centres) and are computer based. You receive your results immediately.
    • Each exam has a minimum pass mark of 70% per unit. A mark of 80% or higher receives a merit and a mark of 90% or over receives a distinction. Should you fail a specific unit, you only have to re-sit the specific unit rather than the whole module.

Course Duration

This home learning course will take approximately 80 hours to study and there is no time limit for completion.

Assessment

The CeMAP® Mortgage adviser course requires 3 examinations which are organised by the student. The examinations run in most major towns and cities and we can provide advice regarding this where needed.

Study Method

The course is designed for study by online distance learning at home or at work. Students receive online course materials, assignments and study guide plus tutor support via email.

Qualifications

The CeMAP® level 3 qualification is accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and is recognised by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) as an appropriate qualification. It is the most widely recognised mortgage adviser qualification in the UK.

The qualification is required by any individual who wishes to advise customers on mortgages. CeMAP® is the benchmark qualification for the industry with over 80% of all mortgage advisers holding this specific qualification. CeMAP® meets the requirements identified by the Financial Services Skills Council (FSSC), is accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA),  Most importantly it is recognised by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) as an appropriate qualification.
