This is the ASET Level 2 Certificate in Care Skills. This programme is designed for anyone wishing to gain a better understanding of the role of the care sector and the skills required for success.

The course is divided up into five modules, as follows:

Module 3: Nutrition:
- About nutrition
- Nutritional values of food
- Healthy diets, safe food hygiene
- Helping with dietary selection
- Assisting with eating and drinking
- Monitoring intake.
Module 4: Pressure Care:
- About pressure sores
- How sores develop
- Shearing
- Factors affecting pressure sores
- Nutrition
- Risk assessment
- Incontinence
- High risk people
- Wound assessment
- Practical caring skills
- Aids to relieve pressure
Module 5: Elimination:
- What is elimination
- Potential effects
- Medication, infection
- Physiological problems
- Muscular weakness
- Practical skills
Course Duration
Students may register at any time and have a full year to complete their studies.
Assessment
The course will take the form of a series of written assignments which are submitted and marked by your tutor. There is no external examination.
Study Method
The course is designed for study by distance learning at home or at work. Students receive a course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by mail or email. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to one year from the time of registration.
